Every year, one in four people suffer with some kind of mental health issue
Asking for help when things feel overwhelming, or when life becomes difficult, is a brave first step. I remember from my own experience as a client just how daunting this can feel, but I also remember the relief of finding someone to talk to who was interested in understanding me.
I offer a safe, supportive and confidential space in Northampton where you can explore the issues that you’re struggling with, make sense of where they might have come from, and begin to find different ways of dealing with them. I work both short and long term, depending on what it is that you want to explore. Some people come with specific goals or things that they want to work on, while others have a more general sense that something isn’t ‘quite right’, without being able to work out, on their own, what that is. For some people, expressing feelings is difficult, while others struggle with distressing thoughts. Sometimes people tell me they put off talking to someone because they feel bad about feeling bad, or experience feelings of guilt or shame as they think “I should be able to sort this out by myself…” But the reality is that we all experience distressing events, difficult feelings or relationship issues at some point in our lives that we’re not able to resolve ourselves, it’s just part of being human, and at those times, a little support can go a long way.
No need to face it alone
Whatever you are experiencing, you don’t have to face it alone. In reading this website and looking for support, you have already taken a positive first step on your journey towards feeling better. However bad things are, it’s never too late. Talking therapies can help. My role is to work with you and alongside you, collaboratively, to help you understand your feelings, your thoughts and yourself better, to see what is holding you back, and to move towards making positive changes in your life. If you’d like any more information, then please phone or email me for an informal, no obligation chat to help you decide whether you would like to take that first step and make an initial appointment.
Based in Northampton, my practice is easy to get to, with adjacent parking and convenient transport links.
